Pacer Umran Malik breaks his own records, bowls fastest delivery of IPL 2021 season

21-year-old Umran Malik from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday broke his own record to bowl the fastest delivery of the entire Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season so far with a speed of 153 kph playing against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In his IPL debut, the pacer Malik clocked 151.03 kph versus Kolkata knight riders – which was the fastest by an Indian.

The speed merchant defeated KKR and New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson, who had bowled the fastest delivery of the IPL 2021 so far, clocking 152.75 kph. Meanwhile, RCB’s Mohammed Siraj was the previous fastest Indian pace in IPL with a speed of 145.97 kph.

SRH’s captain Kane Williamson was cheering and applauding for Umran Malik, who was initially a net bowler, and made it to the XIin place of an experienced pacer like Sandeep Sharma.

At the toss ahead of the KKR game, Williamson said, “It’s an unfortunate position to be in but there’s quite a bit to gain with growth of players, in difficult conditions, especially against a side like Kolkata. Umran Malik comes in for Sandeep Sharma just to improve the balance of the side. He’s an exciting fast bowling talent.”
