Paris: Wrestler Aman Sehrawat clinched the bronze medal in the men’s 57kg freestyle category at the Paris Games, defeating Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz with a commanding score of 13-5 on Friday.
This victory adds to India’s tally of five bronze medals and a silver, which was secured by javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra on Thursday. Aman’s win continues India’s streak of earning wrestling medals since the 2008 Beijing Games, where Sushil Kumar first brought home a bronze.
Aman’s journey to the podium came after a semifinal loss to Japanese top-seed Rei Higuchi, setting up the successful bronze-medal match against Cruz.
