America: Another person was diagnosed with bird flu

US health officials have reported a second human case of bird flu in the US amid growing bird flu fears. Another case was registered within two months of the first case.

The H5N1 virus was first detected in a person in Texas. Now another person has been diagnosed with the virus in Michigan. Both were dairy farm workers and had mild symptoms. Officials said that he has now recovered.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the risk to the general public is ‘low’. But it also said that more cases are likely to be registered.

“Raw milk from infected cows is high in virus. “Given the prevalence of this virus in dairy cows, it is likely that similar numbers of human cases of bird flu will be reported,” the CDC said.

A man working on a dairy farm in Michigan has been diagnosed with bird flu. H5N1 virus was found in cows there. Two samples were reportedly collected from one nose and the other eye of the person and tested.
