Dubai Expo 2020 a chance to showcase India’s potential, says union minister Piyush Goyal

Dubai Expo 2020 is an opportunity to exhibit India’s potential and this event will highlight a new emerging technologically driven and self-confident India to the world, said Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday,

On October 1, Dubai opened its USD 7 billion Expo 2020 on a desert site. Piyush Goyal inaugurated the India Pavilion on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference, Goyal said the event is an opportunity to showcase the potential of India.

“It [Dubai Expo] is an outreach to the whole world to showcase a new India, an emerging technologically driven self-confident India. Expo 2020 Dubai is an opportunity to showcase India’s potential,” he said.

Goyal said India will become the engine of growth for the whole world and will ready to engage with any competition on equal terms and on strength of our qualities.

“India, which is rich in tradition and heritage, is today engaging with most modern technology whether it is space, whether its atomic energy, Whether it is renewable energy. Whether it’s a fight against climate change,” he added.

Talking about the ties between India and UAE, the Piyush Goyal said that these two nations have shared interests and are not in competition but they complement each other.

During the pandemic, while Indians across many parts of the world wanted to come back home, UAE didn’t let any Indian go because they didn’t want them to go. They also took care of them like their own family, Goyal said adding it’s a huge message about the love and affection of the people of both countries.

The Dubai Expo 2020 is a significant platform for India to showcase its vibrant culture and enormous growth opportunities for the next six months, the Indian government said.

India is among the 192 participating countries, and has one the biggest pavilion in the expo. Fifteen Indian states and nine central Indian ministries have participated in this six-month-long expo event, which is going to end on 31 March 2022.

The Indian Pavilion in the Dubai Expo is featuring an innovative kinetic facade composed of 600 individual colourful blocks, according to a statement. It is developed as a mosaic of rotating panels that depicts different themes as they rotate on their axis. It represents the theme of ‘India on the move’ and is a unique amalgam of the rich heritage and technological advances of the country.

A huge number of Indian syndicates and global companies have also participates in the event. Meanwhile India’s participation in Dubai Expo 2020 will predominantly focus on presenting unlimited opportunities for the global community to take part in the nation’s growth story, and get benefit from it.

Going with the themes of the event, visitors at the Indian pavilion will get a glimpse of the nation’s innovations and successes in the fields of Space Technology, Healthcare, Robotics, Electric Mobility, Edu-tech, e-Commerce, Cybersecurity, Energy, Cryptocurrency and Blockchain.

At the Indian Expo pavilion in Dubai,
11 key themes have been represented, viz, Climate and Biodiversity, Space, Urban and Rural Development, Travel and Connectivity, Health and Wellness, Tolerance and Inclusivity, Global Goals, Golden Jubilee, Knowledge and Learning, Food Agriculture and Livelihoods and Water, the release said.
