Israel-Hamas Conflict: Aid to the people of Gaza from the Egyptian border

Jerusalem: The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip will not be allowed to cross the border with Israel. However, it has ensured that the movement of essential goods from the side of the border with Egypt will not be disrupted.

According to US President Joe Biden’s demand, Israel will not interfere with essential goods coming from Egypt. However Israel has imposed a condition that only food, water, and medicine should be provided to the citizens in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

It confirmed that ‘no essential goods will be allowed to enter the Gaza Strip from the Israeli side until the release of the Israeli hostages’.

“On a humanitarian basis, essential items should reach only the citizens. Israel has agreed to this under the condition that Hamas rebels do not get them”, US President Joe Biden said during his visit to Israel on Wednesday.

Israel imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip after Hamas rebels attacked Israeli citizens on October 7. There was no food and water supply there. ‘I am clarifying one thing here. If Hamas steals aid, it proves once again that they have no concern for the Palestinian people”, Biden said.

The US will provide an additional $100 million (approximately Rs.832 crore) in aid to Gaza and the West Bank.
