Imphal: The police did not file a case despite complaining about the gang-rape of women in Manipur. A soldier’s wife was also among those attacked. He told the media that he was a soldier who fought for the country in the Kargil war but could not save his wife and village.
Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident so far. Allegations were raised earlier that the police and women’s commission did not take action despite complaints. The North American Tribal Association and two activists filed a complaint with the Women’s Commission on June 12. They also stated that no action has been taken in the matter even after the passage of days.
