Gaza Strip: PM Modi agrees to peace

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India agrees with Egypt on the need to establish peace in the West Asia region as soon as possible.

The Centre has come under fire from opposition parties for not expressing support at the United Nations for a resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

“We share common concerns about terrorism, violence, and loss of civilian life”. Modi wrote on the ‘X’ platform, referring to his talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Saturday.

India abstained from voting on the UN General Assembly resolution. After this, Modi had a phone conversation with Sisi.

It is said that Modi had called Sisi with the intention of winning back the confidence of the Arab leaders who were upset over India’s decision to stay away from the vote.

Modi reiterated India’s long-standing, moral stance on the issue of Palestine in Sisi.
