Hit and run case Lorry Owners Association calls for indefinite strike from January 17

The lorry owners’ association strike in the state from January 17 against the central government’s law that imposes 10 years in jail and a fine of ₹7 lakh in hit-and-run cases.

Karnataka Lorry Owners Association has decided to go on strike against the harassment of lorry owners by the transport department along with law enforcement to punish and fine the lorry drivers in hit-and-run cases. The lorry strike is likely to affect the transport of essential goods in the state.

Lorry owners have gone on strike in various states of northern India against this law. In this background, the central government announced on Tuesday that it has withdrawn from enforcing the law. However, the association demanded that a clear order should be published in this regard.
