Asaduddin Owaisi, president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) challenged on Saturday, the narrative of the Ram Janmabhommi Temple Consecration Ceremony which is set to take place on January 22, 2024. He claimed that Babri Masjid was a plan which was systematically taken over from Indian Muslims as they used to offer prayers there for over 500 years.
The recent statement comes when Owaisi was talking to the reporters in Kalaburagi of Karnataka. The AIMIM president asserted that the temple did not exist during the time of the formation of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and he also said that if the Masjid was not demolished in 1992, the Muslims would not have to see the things how they are today at present time.
“Muslims offered namaz in Babri Masjid for 500 years. When Congress’ GB Pant was the CM of Uttar Pradesh, idols were placed inside the masjid… Nair was the collector of Ayodhya at that time. He shut the masjid and started worshipping over there… Ram Mandir did not exist when VHP was formed,” Owaisi said as it was quoted by the news agency ANI.
Owaisi further also claimed that the Ram Mandir was not even mentioned by the great leader, Mahatma Gandhi.
“Mahatma Gandhi never mentioned anything about Ram Mandir. Very systematically, Babri Masjid has been taken away from Indian Muslims… Had GB Pant removed those idols back then and had the Masjid not been demolished in 1992, we wouldn’t have to see things how they are today…,” he added.
