According to the sources, the four men had gone to collect firewood near the hill ranges adjoining Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts when they were reportedly missing on Wednesday, police said.

Although their whereabouts are still not known, some sources revealed that they must have been held captives by the militant groups and this possibility cannot be ruled out. They also said that help from the central forces has been sought.

The missing men in Manipur have been identified as Dara Singh, Romen Singh, Ibomcha Singh and Anand Singh, police said.

Meanwhile, the militants also launched fresh bomb attacks and also gun attacks at Haotak village in Bishnupur district. The incident prompted more than 100 children, women and the elderly people to flee to the safer areas, officials added.
