Internal conflict: More than 600 Myanmar soldiers have entered India for asylum!

In Myanmar, there is an ongoing internal conflict between rebel forces and the junta regime. Meanwhile, it is reported that more than 600 Myanmar soldiers have crossed into India and sought asylum.

A video of soldiers entering parts of the Indian state of Mizoram, which shares a border with Myanmar, is doing the rounds on social media.

At least 276 Myanmar Army personnel were seen entering Indian territory on Wednesday afternoon in Mizoram’s Bandukbanga village, marked as the junction of the India-Myanmar-Bangladesh border.

In the wake of this development, the Mizoram government has brought it to the central government’s attention and warned it to take an appropriate decision soon. It demanded prompt confirmation of the withdrawal of troops from the neighboring country.

Around 600 Myanmar Army soldiers have crossed into India amid intense clashes in Myanmar. Soldiers have reportedly taken shelter in an Assam Rifles camp after the ethnic armed group Arakan Army (AA) militants overran their camps in the Rakhine state of western Myanmar.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has demanded an urgent discussion with Union Home Minister Amit Shah about this development.

Speaking to the media, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma said, “People are fleeing from Myanmar to our country for asylum. We are helping them on a humanitarian basis. Myanmar soldiers also keep coming and seeking asylum. About 450 army personnel have been sent back,” he said.
