After Virat Kohli addressed the media on Wednesday ahead of India’s departure for South Africa, fans criticised BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly and BCCI secretary Jay Shah on social media for playing politics.
Earlier, Sourav Ganguly claimed that he had personally asked Virat Kohli not to give up T20I captaincy, however, India’s Test Captain has revealed that nobody had asked him not to give up the captaincy.
Kohli also said that he was informed about his sacking as ODI captain, just one and half hour before the selection meeting on 8 December.
“I was not told to not leave the T20 captaincy. I was contacted 1.5 hours before selection committee meet. There was no prior communication,” he said.
Quashing the chatter around his availability for the ODIs against South Africa, Kohli said, “I was always available” and dismissed the talks of him not taking part in the ODI series against South Africa after the three Tests.
India’s former T20 and ODI captain also clarified that he wanted to continue to lead India in Tests and ODIs.
After the press conference, Kohli’s fans trolled Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah on twitter:
