New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has called for civility and respect following derogatory comments directed at BJP leader Smriti Irani. Irani faced trolling after vacating her government residence in Delhi, a move necessitated by her recent loss of the Amethi parliamentary seat to Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma.
“Winning and losing happen in life. I urge everyone to refrain from using derogatory language and being nasty towards Smt. Smriti Irani or any other leader for that matter. Humiliating and insulting people is a sign of weakness, not strength,” Gandhi stated.
The remarks come in the wake of a social media backlash against Irani, who had been a prominent figure in the BJP’s campaign. Gandhi’s call for respect highlights the need for a more dignified political discourse, emphasizing that personal attacks and insults are counterproductive and reflect poorly on those who engage in them.
