New Delhi: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly recently filed a defamation suit against YouTuber Mrinmay Das for allegedly using derogatory language in a social media video.
The video allegedly misused Ganguly’s images, videos, and statements related to recent controversies involving women doctors and a murder case in Kolkata.
In the video, Mrinmay Das not only verbally attacked Sourav Ganguly but also questioned his need for a biography while he was still alive. In response, Ganguly’s secretary Tania Bhattacharya lodged a formal complaint against Das with the Kolkata Police’s cyber crime wing.
“This person has posted a video on a social media platform targeting Sourav Ganguly, using abusive language and making derogatory statements, which is damaging to his reputation.
“The content of the video is not only an attack on Sourav Ganguly but violates the dignity and honor of every individual,” the complaint said.
Sourav Ganguly faced criticism for his statement on the August 8 tragic incident at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
