Kottayam/Kannur: A Kerala-based woman who works as a caregiver in Israel has been injured in the unrivaled multiple front attacks by Hamas that rules the Gaza Strip over the country since Saturday. Sheeja Anand, a native of Payyavoor in Kannur district of Kerala, received several injuries in the missile strikes on Ashkelon which is a coastal city in the southern part of Israel on Saturday, while she was on a video call with her husband, her family reported.
The Indian mission also reached out to help her for support and they are also keeping in continuous touch with her family as well, which is in Kannur district of Kerala. An embassy source stated: “Her family has been informed, and we are in constant contact both with Ms.Sheeja and her family.” The informed sources had also told the PTI that there is no reason for any concern at the current moment.
Sheeja’s sister had earlier told the news channels that while her sister was on a video call, Sheeja told her husband Anand that she is able to hear the sound of missile strikes and her husband asked her to be safe and careful. Her sister said: “In the middle of the conversation, the call got disconnected and thereafter, we could not reach her for several hours. Later in the evening some of her colleagues told us that she was injured in the attack and her phone fell somewhere.” It was on Sunday afternoon when Sheeja called her mother from the hospital bed and assured her by saying: “Amma, I am ok.” Her mother who was continuously sobbing said: “I barely got to see her face for a short time. Thereafter, there was no information. Then yesterday night we were informed by her colleagues that she was being shifted to another hospital for spinal surgery. She added “I thought only her hands and legs were injured. Now even her spine is injured.”
Most of the hostilities are confined to only 10 per cent of the area pertaining to Israel, especially its southern parts of Ashkelon, there are rising concerns between the people over the rumours of change in the dynamics of some Palestinian communities residing in Israel.
