Kohli Surpasses 9000 Test Runs, Joins Elite Indian Club

Bengaluru: Virat Kohli, the batting maestro, etched his name further into cricket history by becoming the fourth Indian to surpass 9000 runs in Test cricket. This milestone was achieved during the third day of the opening Test match against New Zealand in Bengaluru on Friday.

Kohli joined the illustrious company of Sachin Tendulkar (15921), Rahul Dravid (13265), and Sunil Gavaskar (10122). However, he is the slowest among them to reach this landmark, taking 197 innings.

The 35-year-old Kohli reached the 9000-run mark after scoring a half-century in India’s second innings. Despite a nine-ball duck in the first innings, Kohli’s consistent performance has solidified his place among the greatest batsmen of all time.

In the recent Test series against Bangladesh, Kohli set another record by becoming the quickest batter to complete 27,000 international runs in just 594 innings.
