Six students from the Jain University Centre for Management Studies were expelled after a viral video surfaced of them doing a play that purportedly insulted Dalits and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
According to UGC standards, the university has established a disciplinary committee with professionals to investigate the situation, a university official revealed to The Indian Express.
The university administration insisted that the public was given an “unconditional apology” and that an inquiry has been launched into the incident. A University official told that purpose of the skit was to draw attention to the anti-caste system in India, the skit ended by praising Ambedkar and on the right note.
In accordance with UGC, Jain University is probing the matter through an established disciplinary committee which will decide on the case.
