Death in Custody: Mayawati Slams Police, Demands Justice

The death of a young man in police custody has sparked outrage and protests in Lucknow. The incident has taken a political turn, with BSP chief Mayawati demanding action against the responsible police personnel.

The controversy began when 24-year-old Aman Gautam died after being detained by police for alleged involvement in gambling. His family and locals alleged that Aman was beaten to death by police.

On Saturday, hundreds gathered at Khurramnagar crossing, blocking roads and protesting against police brutality. Aman’s family claimed he was innocent and never involved in gambling.

Mayawati condemned the incident, stating, “The brutal beating of a Dalit youth by police in Lucknow, resulting in his death, is condemnable. The government must take strict action against the guilty police personnel and provide assistance to the bereaved family.”

The protests continue, with demands for action against the responsible police officers.

Aman’s family, including his wife Roshni and three-year-old daughter, demand justice. Locals and family members allege police targeted Aman while letting actual gamblers go scot-free.
