Prajwal’s Revanna Return Uncertain as Sexual Abuse Deadline Passes on Tuesday

Hassan’s NDA Lok Sabha candidate Prajwal Revanna, under investigation for sexual abuse allegations, failed to return within the seven-day period he sought to appear before the Special Investigation Team. Despite the deadline ending on Tuesday, there was no indication of his return from abroad.

The 33-year-old JD(S) MP and grandson of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda flew to Germany immediately after news broke that the Karnataka State Commission for Women, represented by Nagalakshmi Chowdhary, had urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to initiate a probe into explicit videos allegedly depicting Prajwal engaged in sexual misconduct with several women.

Authorities have issued a lookout notice for Prajwal at all Indian airports, complemented by a Blue Corner notice through Interpol, facilitating the collection and sharing of information regarding his whereabouts and activities concerning the ongoing criminal investigation.

Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy stated on Tuesday that he had not communicated with his nephew Prajwal, emphasizing that legal action should be taken against offenders according to the law.

Meanwhile, JD(S) MLA H D Revanna, Prajwal’s father, currently in the custody of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on charges of kidnapping a woman allegedly sexually abused by Prajwal, faced a setback in his bid for relief on Tuesday from the Special Court for Elected Representatives. The court deferred the hearing on his bail plea to Wednesday.

Revanna and his associate Sathish Babanna were booked for allegedly abducting a woman on April 29, following a complaint filed by the woman’s son. The complaint accused Revanna’s son, JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, of sexually abusing his mother. The SIT has also secured the custody of Babanna.

The woman’s alleged abduction was purportedly aimed at preventing her from testifying against Prajwal, according to police sources.
