Two BJP Members Arrested in Gujarat for Alleged Bogus Voting and Live-Streaming on Social Media

Two members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) found themselves under arrest in Gujarat’s Mahisagar district, within the Dahod Lok Sabha constituency, for their alleged involvement in bogus voting. What intensified the gravity of the situation was the live-streaming of the incident on social media, subsequently going viral and evoking widespread condemnation.

The accused individuals, Vijay Bhabhor, 28, and Manoj Magan, 38, purportedly participated in the act of bogus voting, which was broadcasted on Facebook by Vijay Bhabhor himself. The video captured Bhabhor tampering with an electronic voting machine (EVM) inside a polling booth, despite repeated warnings from election officials.

In the footage, Bhabhor boldly asserts control over the area, urging others to cast votes for the BJP by pressing the ‘lotus’ button. Shockingly, he even engages in a celebratory dance with the EVM, displaying a blatant disregard for the integrity of the electoral process.

The Congress party has called for severe action against the culprits, accusing them of bogus voting across 25 polling stations in the Gothib taluk panchayat in Santrampur. They have formally lodged complaints with the authorities.

Following these events, both Bhabhor and Magan were apprehended under pertinent sections of the Representation of the People Act and the Indian Penal Code. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them by the authorities.
