The Markazi Taleemi Board, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, convened a significant one-day workshop addressing the evolving landscape of Deeni Madrasas (Islamic Schools) in India. Chaired by Syed Saadatullah Hussaini, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, the workshop spotlighted the imperative need to recalibrate the curriculum of these institutions.
In his address, Hussaini underscored the pressing necessity for adaptation within the educational framework of Deeni Madrasas, citing three primary catalysts propelling this discourse. Firstly, he highlighted the rapid cultural transformations inherent in contemporary society, emphasizing the critical linkage between evolving knowledge paradigms and religious guidance. Secondly, Hussaini addressed the evolving challenges faced by the Muslim community amidst shifting sociopolitical dynamics, necessitating a modernized approach to religious education. Finally, he elucidated the legal and political exigencies exerting pressure on madrasas, advocating for a curriculum aligned with the evolving needs of society and the authentic objectives of religious education.
The inaugural session featured Syed Tanveer Ahmed and Dr. Salman Asad, Secretary and Rector respectively, alongside Professor Salim Engineer chairing subsequent discussions. Distinguished speakers including Dr. Badrul Islam, Mujtaba Farooq, and Maulana Tahir Madani, among others, deliberated on the imperative for scholars adept in contemporary intellectual discourse and proficient in disseminating Islamic teachings across linguistic boundaries.
The workshop attracted participation from Islamic scholars, intellectuals, and education experts nationwide, echoing a collective call for a dynamic educational paradigm that resonates with the demands of the times.
