The BJP leader said, “We wanted to welcome Jayant Chaudhary to our home but he has chosen the wrong path. People of Jat community will speak to him. Our door is always open for him.”
This came after Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday held a meeting with Jat leaders from western Uttar Pradesh in New Delhi.
RLD is fighting the upcoming UP elections in alliance with the BJP’s main competitor – Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav.
A few hours later, RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary posted a tweet in response to BJP’s invitation.
He tweeted in Hindi, “Don’t invite me [to your home], ask the 700+ farmers’ families whose homes you destroyed.”
The UP Assembly polls will be held over seven phases in February and March this year. The votes will be counted on March 10.
