I am being discriminated against because I am a Dalit: Senior IAS officer alleges

A senior IAS officer from Jammu and Kashmir has alleged against the administration of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir that he is being discriminated against and threatened because he is a Dalit.

IAS officer Ashok Parmar is a 1992 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre. He is working in Jammu Kashmir and has alleged that he has been transferred 5 times in the last 1 year and harassed. The opposition has demanded an impartial investigation into the allegation.

Ashok Parmar, a 1992-batch Gujarat-born IAS officer, has filed a complaint before the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, alleging that the Jammu and Kashmir administration has been harassing and threatening him after exposing massive irregularities in the Jal Shakti department.

He has also written a letter to the Union Home Secretary in this regard. In the letter, Parmar alleged that he was thrown out of two high-level meetings and humiliated in front of other officials.

Parmar, who was on Central Government deputation, was appointed to the AGMUT cadre in March 2022. Later he was posted as Principal Secretary, Irrigation and Flood Control Department.

On May 5, 2022, he was again transferred and posted as Principal Secretary, Jal Shakti Department. According to Parmar, he was transferred to the ARI and Trainings department within a month after he exposed the scams in the department.

He was transferred to the Skill Development Department on July 18. Two weeks later, on 1 August, he was again appointed as Chairman of the Bureau of Public Enterprises in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mohbub Mufti posted about this on X (Twitter) that instead of punishing those who swallowed 3,000 crores in Jal Jeevan Yojana, an honest officer was put in trouble. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has demanded an impartial investigation into the matter.
