IT raids continue in three states: Rs. 290 crore recovered

Income Tax Department officials have raided three states and so far they have seized Rs. 290 crore. Cash has been seized.

It is reported that at least ₹290 crore in cash has been seized so far in the raids conducted by the Income Tax Department officials in connection with Odisha-based distilleries and more cash is expected to be seized as the raids continue.

This is said to be the maximum amount of cash seized in income tax raids so far. Sources in the IT department said that nine lockers and seven rooms at three locations in three states are yet to be inspected.

Cash was hidden in cupboards and other furniture. A video of cash stored in a cupboard has gone viral on social media.

Odisha-based Baud Distillery, Baldev Sahu Infra offices belonging to this company, and a rice mill belonging to the firm were searched. In Jharkhand, cash worth crores has been found in places belonging to Congress MP Dheeraj Kumar Sahu.

It is also reported that the cash machine used by the authorities to count the money found during the raid on the Distilleries Company has broken down. Around 150 officers are reported to be involved in all these attacks.

Separate teams of Income Tax officials conducted simultaneous raids at different places for the second day. Raids were conducted in Bolangir, Boudh, Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, and Sundargarh districts on the charge of tax evasion. Acting on the information, the IT officials seized the cash.

On the other hand, there was an IT attack on a company called Sivaganga. The company was accused of selling domestic liquor through its outlets across the state without maintaining bills and vouchers.

Property belonging to the Sivaganga Company was raided. Important information, including false accounts of the company, has been falsified.

150 crore cash found in one office!
During raids conducted at several locations belonging to Boudh Distilleries Pvt Ltd, a liquor manufacturing and selling company in Ranchi, Jharkhand, the IT officials were shocked to see lots of money in one place.

150 crore rupees in denominations of 500, 200, and 100 rupees were found at the same place. It is reported that more than Rs. 300 crore cash seized from all sides was bagged and deposited in a truck at SBI Bank in Bolangir.
