Pannun Murder bid: Antony Blinken welcomes India’s probe into the alleged murder attempt on Gurpatwant Singh Pannun

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has made the announcement of the investigation led by the Indian government into the allegations of an Indian official’s involvement in a foiled plot to murder a pro-Khalistani separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in the US.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had informed that it has decided to set up a high-level probe committee for looking into the security concerns which were shared by the US related to the criminal nexus and the alleged attempt to murder Pannun. Blinken while speaking to the reporters who were accompanying him in Tel Aviv, Israel, said: “The government announced today that it was conducting an investigation, and that’s good and appropriate, and we look forward to seeing the results.” Blinken further added “This is an ongoing legal matter. So you’ll understand I can’t comment on it in detail. I can say that this is something we take very seriously. A number of us have raised this directly with the Indian Government in past weeks.”

It was been earlier informed by India that the US had shared some leads and information pertaining to a “nexus between organized criminals, gun runners, terrorists and others” during the period of the recent discussions on India-US security cooperation.
