Udupi murder case Accused Praveen has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days

The court has ordered judicial custody for 14 days to the arrested accused Praveen Arun Chowgule (39) in connection with the massacre of four members of the same family in Nejaru, Udupi, which shocked the entire state on November 12.

The police, who are interrogating the accused, produced him before the Udupi Principal Civil and JMFC Court today. The court remanded the accused in judicial custody for 14 days.

The arrested accused Praveen Arun Chowgule was produced in the court on November 15 and the police took him into police custody for 14 days for further investigation into the background of the serious case. At this time, the court ordered the accused to appear in the court on November 28.

The police, who had taken Praveen into their custody for 14 days, completed all the investigation processes related to the case including location investigation, witnesses, statement, and identity of the accused within a week. Thus, realizing that there is no need to keep the accused in custody till November 28, the police produced him in court today under tight police security.

Later, the accused was produced before the Udupi Principal Civil and JMFC Court led by Malpe Police Circle Inspector Manjunath, the investigating officer of the case.

District Judge Deepa, who took up the case, ordered judicial custody of the accused for 14 days. The judge ordered the accused to appear in court again on December 5.

Senior Assistant Public Prosecutor HM Nadaf was present on this occasion. Later, the accused was taken to the district jail in Hiriadka under tight security.

The police, who have been kept in their custody till Nov. 28, are likely to submit the charge sheet soon, but the team of investigators has been successful in completing the investigation at a fast pace and seizing the evidence. A charge sheet is likely to be submitted to the court soon.
