Voters Threatened with BJP Symbol-Branded Pens by Alleged Party Agents

The Gujarat Congress on Tuesday filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India alleging violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by agents and polling officers for using pens with their party’s symbol on them by polling agents of the BJP.

BJP workers are ‘threatening’ voters. The Congress and its leaders have alleged that anti-social elements are trying to stop the voting process in some areas.

“BJP has used paraphernalia and pens with political party symbols in the polling booths. It has been found that polling agents and officers have violated the Election Code of Conduct. The pens have BJP’s image/symbol and are being used in polling booths,” the Congress said in its complaint to the Election Commission.

Each polling booth was decorated with flags and swags bearing the BJP’s symbol, the complaint said. This is a clear violation of the Model Code of Conduct. The complaint also stated that the BJP did this to influence the election process.

Congress filed 19 complaints!
The Lok Sabha elections were held in Gujarat on May 7 and the Congress registered a total of 19 complaints. Gujarat Congress President Shaktisinha Gohil filed the complaint.
