Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Enforces Green Crackers for Safe, Eco-Friendly Deepavali

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Saturday that only eco-friendly green crackers will be permitted for sale across the state this Deepavali. Emphasizing the need for safety, he urged strict compliance to prevent injuries, harm, or fatalities from firecrackers, during a meeting with district deputy commissioners.

“Deepavali is near, and the Supreme Court has set guidelines for cracker use. Only green crackers are allowed, and they should be lit between 8 pm and 10 pm,” Siddaramaiah told reporters after the meeting.

Deputy commissioners have been instructed to inspect cracker shops, with strict action to be taken against sellers who disregard safety rules, operate outside designated areas, or lack proper storage facilities. The Chief Minister reiterated the importance of environmental protection, stressing the need for a safe festival without any harm across districts.
