Bomb Threats Disrupt 30 Flights, Including Multiple IndiGo Flights Bound for Jeddah

New Delhi: On Monday night, 30 domestic and international flights operated by Indian airlines received bomb threats, with three Jeddah-bound IndiGo flights being diverted to airports in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. IndiGo, Vistara, and Air India flights were among those targeted, sources said.

IndiGo reported 10 flights receiving security alerts, including flights 6E 77 (Bengaluru to Jeddah) diverted to Doha, 6E 65 (Kozhikode to Jeddah) to Riyadh, and 6E 63 (Delhi to Jeddah) to Medina. Other affected IndiGo flights included routes to Dammam, Mumbai, and Pune.

Air India and Vistara also confirmed that their flights received security threats via social media.

Although the threats are often hoaxes, Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu emphasized the need to treat them seriously. The government is planning legislative amendments to address bomb threats, including placing offenders on a no-fly list and enforcing stricter penalties.
