Bahraich Violence: Bulldozers Roll In, 30 Accused Face Action, Main Accused Majid’s House Next?

The houses of the accused in the Bahraich violence will soon face the bulldozer. Notices have been pasted on the houses in this regard. On the other hand, due to not playing the right role in the incident, the Tehsildar has been removed.

The main accused, Abdul Hameed, and around 30 other accused in the Mahrajganj violence will soon face the bulldozer. On Friday evening, the Public Works Department pasted notices on their houses regarding encroachment. If no response is received within three days, the entire house will be demolished.

This action is being taken against the houses of those involved in the violence, and around 30 houses have received notices. It is likely that bulldozers will be used against all of them. The ASP may also face removal due to negligence, while the Tehsildar has been attached to the DM office.

On Friday evening, a team from the PWD Provincial Branch measured the houses in Mahrajganj village, including that of main accused Abdul Hameed, and pasted notices regarding illegal construction and encroachment. Sources say that formalities will be completed soon, and bulldozers may be used.

Locals stated that the officials who came to measure the houses said that the illegally constructed houses, including Abdul Hameed’s, posed a risk of accidents and would be demolished. Abdul Hameed is the main accused in the Ramgopal Mishra murder case.

The Executive Engineer of the PWD Provincial Branch, Pradeep Kumar, said that the main road from Mahrajganj to Mahsi requires widening, and any illegal construction within a 50-meter radius will be removed. Notices have been issued to those who have made illegal constructions, and if no response is received, further action will be taken.

During the violence, ADG Law and Order and STF Chief Amitabh S had found an ASP negligent in performing duties. Police sources say that a report has been sent to the government, and action may be taken against the ASP.

CO Rupendra Gaud has already been suspended for negligence, and Tehsildar Ravi Kant Dwivedi has been attached to the DM office. Other officials may also face action.

DM Monika Rani said that encroachment will be removed for road widening, and teams are assessing damage in the violence-affected area. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

On the sixth day after the violence, Mahrajganj remained quiet, with only a few shops open. IPS officers, commandos, and police forces were deployed to maintain control. Despite appeals from Muslim clerics and the administration, people remained fearful and stayed indoors.

No prayers were held at the mosque near the accused’s house, possibly due to fear or the absence of the Imam.
