Howrah: Protest against Hijab erupted between two groups in a school.
When one of them showed up at the school gate demanding that it be permitted with saffron scarves in the class as revenge against the authorities allowing girls with hijab, two groups of pupils got into a fight at a school in Howrah’s Sankrail.
Following the clash between the two groups police personnel was deployed to the school.
Later school authorities were forced to cancel the pre-board examinations.
Five boys from a 50-year-old school, Dhulagori Adarsha Vidyalaya, triggered the clash in front of the gate demanding that they be allowed inside the school with saffron scarves. Students then divided into two groups pro-Hijabi and pro-saffron scarves and started sloganeering against each other.
School authorities convened a meeting to diffuse the tension.
