Amsterdam: UEFA Nations League title for Spain. Spain won the title by defeating Croatia 5-4 in the penalty shootout. This is Spain’s first Nations League title.
The final match went to a penalty shoot-out after both teams were scoreless in regulation time and extra time. Kicks by Croatia’s Lavro Maier and Petkovic were saved by Spanish goalie Unai Simon. Spain’s Laporte’s kick was wasted but Carvajal took the last kick to give Spain the title.
With the title, Spain became only the second team to win the UEFA Nations League Cup in addition to the World Cup and Euro Cup. France is the first team to win all three titles. This is Spain’s first title since the 2012 Euro Cup. Last time, Spain lost to France in the final of the Nations League.
Spain defeated Italy in the semi-finals. Croatia reached the final after defeating the Netherlands. Italy beat the Netherlands 3-2 in the third-place match.
