Rajinikanth pays last respects to his dear friend Vijaykanth

Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) founder Vijayakant, fondly called ‘Captain’ who passed away on December 28 led a legacy in the Tamil film industry as well as in his political career.

Vijayakant’s body is kept at the Island Grounds from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on December 29 for the public to pay their tributes and homage to the veteran. While the South film industry poured their condolences over social media platforms, some stars also came to pay their homage into the DMDK office in Koyambedu.

Superstar Rajinikanth came to pay tributes to the late actor while speaking to the reporters he said, “I was filming in Kanyakumari. I was supposed to come yesterday. It was very tough. There’s a lot to say about Vijayakanth. He was the epitome of friendship. Once someone befriended him, they could never forget him.”

“He was often angry with friends, politicians, and the media, but no one could ever be angry with him. There was always a reason behind Vijayakanth’s anger. Once you get close to Vijayakanth, everyone becomes devoted to his love. He was a symbol of courage and valor. ‘Captain’ was an apt name for Vijayakanth,” Rajinikanth added.

He further recalls a time when he was unwell and people were creating commotion at the hospital while coming to visit him. He said, Once, when I was unwell and unconscious at Ramachandra Hospital, many people came and bothered me. Vijayakanth arrived, and within 5 minutes, he sent all those who were causing a disturbance away. He took a room next to mine and said he’d take care of anyone who bothered me. I can never forget that.”
