Bengaluru: To curb illegal and fraudulent property deals, Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda announced that e-Khatas will be mandatory for all property registrations starting September 30, 2024. This system is already active in 12 districts, including Chitradurga, Raichur, and Bagalkot, through E-Swathu in rural areas and E-Aasthi in urban areas.
Gowda emphasized that all property transactions must involve e-Khata documents, which can be registered and downloaded online. He urged property owners to complete their e-Khata registration promptly to avoid issues such as double registration under different names.
The minister also revealed plans to expand the state’s digital land record initiative, PODI, which has been successfully piloted in Hassan district.
