Bengaluru Rains: Government Has Situation Under Control, Assures Deputy CM DK Shivakumar

Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Wednesday advised residents to exercise caution in light of the persistent rainfall affecting the city. He assured citizens that the government is fully prepared to handle the situation and address any arising issues.

“I urge citizens to take necessary precautions due to the ongoing rains. There might be some traffic disruptions today,” Shivakumar, who also oversees Bengaluru Development, stated. He announced plans to conduct an evening review of the situation with relevant officials, including police, BBMP, fire department, and others.

The incessant rain on Tuesday disrupted normal life in central and southern Karnataka, including Bengaluru, where numerous localities experienced waterlogging and traffic congestion.

Responding to opposition criticism regarding the government’s handling of the situation, Shivakumar countered, “You are tarnishing the state’s pride. Can anyone control nature and stop the rain?” He emphasized the government’s ability to manage the situation, even in the face of more rainfall. “We will set things right promptly,” he added.
