Banda (UP): A 22-year-old deaf-mute woman was allegedly raped and her infant daughter molested by a man in the neighboring Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh, police officials said on Wednesday.
The police have filed an FIR against the 23-year-old accused, who has been absconding since the incident on Tuesday. Chitrakoot Superintendent of Police (SP) Arun Kumar Singh confirmed that the incident occurred in a village under the Bhartiku Police Station area.
According to the complaint, the woman was cooking food at home while her husband was out. The accused, Rai Naravan, entered the house and committed the heinous crimes. He later molested the woman’s infant daughter. Upon his return, the husband was able to understand the horrific ordeal through his wife’s gestures and immediately reported the incident to the police.
Singh stated that an FIR has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police teams are actively searching for the accused.
