Congress alleges Rahul Gandhi’s mike was muted raising NEET issue

As the Lok Sabha session proceeded, the Congress on Friday claimed that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s mic was turned off as soon as the latter tried to raise the NEET paper leak issue in the Lok Sabha.

The Congress shared a video on X (formerly known as twitter), showing Rahul Gandhi requesting the new Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for giving him the access to a microphone. Gandhi had asked for an answer on the NEET controversy and demanded for a statement from the side of the government. In response to the allegations, Speaker Om Birla later clarified that he does not have control over any of the MP’s microphones and that he did not switch off the microphones. “The discussion should be on the President’s address. Other matters will not be recorded in the House,” Birla said.

“While on one hand, Narendra Modi is not saying anything on NEET, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is raising the voice of the youth in the House. But, on such a serious issue, a conspiracy is being hatched to suppress the voice of the youth by doing cheap acts like switching off the mic,” Congress tweeted while sharing a video.

The much talked national level medical entrance examination, NEET-UG 2024 has stirred a row leading to multiple triggers and nation-wide protests from students.

As the proceedings in the Assemble started taking place, Congress MP KC Venugopal submitted an adjournment motion to discuss the case of paper leaks. Meanwhile, the speaker adjourned the House till July 1 after a ruckus erupted in the Lok Sabha Assembly hall.
