Gunfight rages in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda; kills one terrorist

A terrorist was killed by the security forces into an ongoing encounter which took place in a forest area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Wednesday.

According to the police, the encounter gunfight started at Bajaad village in Gandoh area around 9.50am. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) along with police officials and Indian Army intensified a search and cordon operation after the twin terrorist attacks which took place in the hill district on June 11 and 12, police officials stated.

According to officials within the district, the police, who were assisted by the security forces, launched an massive operation in the Sinoo panchayat on Wednesday morning but they came under heavy fire triggered by the terrorists, who were hiding in a ‘dhok’ (mud house). One terrorist was killed in the retaliatory fire after he came outside the mud house and started to open fire on the search parties, officials added. The exchange of gunshots are still going on in the district till the reports were last received.

An army helicopter was also seen hovering over the district, officials added.
