Mamata Govt Issues Fifth Invitation to Protesting Junior Doctors in Kolkata Amid Outcry Over Doctor’s Rape-Murder

Kolkata: The Mamata Banerjee-led government has extended its fifth invitation to junior doctors protesting at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, following the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old female doctor.

The junior doctors have refused to resume work until justice is served in the heinous crime and several top officials are removed from their positions.

Previous meetings between the state government and the doctors have been called off due to disagreements over issues like live-streaming the discussions.

In an email, Chief Secretary Manoj Pant urged the protesting doctors to return to duty, citing a Supreme Court directive from September 9, which instructed the doctors to resume their responsibilities.
