One CRPF jawan killed, 2 terrorists die in encounter attack in Kathua

In a recent encounter case, one Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was killed and two other terrorists were gunned down on Tuesday evening in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The CRPF jawan, Kabir Dass, was critically injured during the firing by a terrorist in Kathua district’s Saida Sukhal village around 3 am, officials said. The soldier was thereby shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment.

According to the officials, the terrorists had opened fire in order to break the security cordon in the village that was over 60 kms from Jammu. The terrorists then attacked the village near the International Border on Tuesday evening which led to the injury of the civilian. After the subsequent search operation, one terrorist was killed, while another terrorist was gunned down by the CRPF the next day. The operation is still underway in the area. According to the police, the particular area is cordoned off, and a house-to-house search is underway with the assistance of the CRPF jawans. “Two terrorists, who appeared to have freshly infiltrated (from across the border), surfaced in the village around 8pm and asked for water from a household. The people got frightened, and as soon as information was received, a police team rushed to the village,” ADGP (Jammu zone) Anand Jain said.

The incident comes just days after a group of terrorists launched a massive attack a bus that was carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori temple to Katra, causing the vehicle to fall into a deep gorge in Reasi, resulting in the death of nine people and injuries to 42 others.
