Lucknow University’s Affiliated Colleges Face Teacher Crisis

Lucknow University’s affiliated colleges are grappling with a severe shortage of qualified teachers, leading to a decline in admissions. The university’s failure to upload teacher information on its website has exacerbated the issue.

As per norms, Lucknow University is required to conduct on-site inspections of colleges before granting affiliation, verifying infrastructure, libraries, and other standards. However, the university’s lack of transparency in teacher appointments has raised concerns.

Approved teachers, who are qualified and demand suitable salaries, are being replaced by ineligible candidates at lower salaries. This fraudulent practice undermines the quality of education.

Past instances of duplicate appointments and conflicting positions have been reported:

  • Dr. Harish Chandra Giri held simultaneous positions at Ramprasad Bismil Memorial Degree College and J.C.R.G. College of Teacher Education in 2017.
  • Nirbhay Singh held dual roles at Aryakul College of Education and Murlidhar Ram Narayan Education in 2017.
  • Shruta Malviya served as Lecturer at G.S.R.M. Memorial Degree College and Principal at Mainathi Kunwar Chandravati Mahavidyalaya in 2017.

Experts emphasize the need for transparency in teacher appointments. “Publishing teacher lists online will prevent fraud and ensure accountability,” says a higher education expert.

Lucknow University Registrar, Vidyanand Tripathi, assures, “Measures will be taken to prevent teacher approval fraud. Strict action will be taken against colleges involved in fraudulent activities.”
