UP: 36 villages in 11 districts affected by floods, Sarayu river again swollen, heavy to very heavy rain warning in these districts

Monsoon is active in UP with full force. Heavy rain has caused flood havoc in 11 districts of the state, along with some districts of Awadh. Several people have died due to rain and lightning. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for the coming days.

Seven lives lost

In the last 24 hours, seven more people have died due to heavy rain in the state. One person died due to lightning and six due to excessive rain. The rain wreaked havoc in Kanpur, Shravasti, Mathura, Etawah, Bulandshahr, Amroha, and Ghaziabad. Two people died in Shravasti, while one person died in each of the other districts.

Highest rainfall in Amroha, lowest in Ballia

The highest rainfall was recorded in Amroha, Banda, Bijnor, and Bahraich, while the lowest rainfall was recorded in Ballia, Maharajganj, Deoria, Banda, Jhansi, Ayodhya, Fatehpur, Ambedkarnagar, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Amethi, Kushinagar, Chandauli, Mahoba, Sonbhadra, Raebareli, Sultanpur, and Prayagraj.

Flood situation in 11 districts

CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep condolences over the loss of life due to rain and lightning. He has instructed to provide immediate relief of four lakh rupees each to the families of the deceased and treatment to the injured. According to reports, 36 villages in 11 districts have been affected by floods. So far, 17 people have died due to floods.

Sarayu river again swollen

The Sarayu river is again swollen due to continuous heavy rain and water from Nepal’s hills. More than two dozen villages are submerged in water. The villagers have started migrating to safe places with the help of boats and other resources.

Flood situation in Bahraich

In Bahraich’s Mihinpurwa tehsil area, the Sarayu river is continuously swollen due to heavy rain and water from Nepal’s hills. The flood situation has arisen, and more than two dozen villages are submerged in water.

Administration on alert

The administration is on alert due to the flood situation. The Deputy Collector and Tehsildar have inspected the flood-affected areas and barrages. The villagers have been instructed to be cautious and move to higher places.

Water level increasing

The water level is increasing due to heavy rain in the hilly areas. The people of the Tarai region are worried due to the increasing water level. On Friday evening, 138707 cusecs of water was discharged from the Sharda Barrage, 269492 cusecs from the Girijapuri Barrage, and 27926 cusecs from the Sarayu Barrage. The total water discharged from the three barrages is 436125 cusecs.

Sarayu river crosses danger mark

The Sarayu river has crossed the danger mark at the Elgin Bridge and is continuously increasing.
