‘Madrassa girls have big dreams in life’: Ismat Ara

The Madrassa girls have big dreams in life who struggle to pay the monthly fees of Rs. 300 boldly dream of speaking English, says The Wire journalist Ismat Ara.

Ismat Ara, tweeted, “The Madrassa girls have big dreams in life to become doctors, IAS/IPS officers, teachers, lawyers. One of them even wanted to be a journalist. These girls who struggle to pay the monthly fee of Rs. 300 boldly dream of speaking English, not fluent or good, just English.”

“The girls took my ID & told me they will seek my guidance,” she said adding, “I wondered, will all this come true someday? If I could, maybe they can, too? I stopped my train of thoughts & reminded myself: This is an exercise in solidarity, not skepticism. An exercise in solidarity.”
