RRB-NTPC Exam Protest: Khan Sir urges students not to participate in Bihar Bandh on January 28

Amid a group of student organizations calling a Bihar Bandh on Friday, January 28 in protest of alleged irregularities in the Railway Recruitment Board’s examination process, YouTuber Khan Sir, alleged to have incited the violent protests, has appealed for calm.

Khan Sir, who holds coaching classes for competitive exams has requested students not to participate in any kind of bandh as it will be a “wrong step” to take while the government considers their demands and concerns.

To protest against alleged discrepancies in the Railway Recruitment Board’s Non-Technical Popular Categories (RRB-NTPC) exam 2021, several students’ organizations, including the All India Students Association (AISA), have threatened a state-wide bandh on Friday.

Khan Sir has been booked for instigating students. An FIR was registered against him in Patna after protesting students were detained by the police and they claimed he had a role to play in the violent agitation.

The students purportedly said that they were motivated to indulge in violence after a video, in which Khan Sir allegedly provoked students to agitate on the streets if the Railway Recruitment exams were not cancelled.

Earlier this week, the student unrest in Bihar over the RRB-NTPC exam took a violent turn when Candidates went on a rampage, sitting on railway tracks, setting a train on fire, and pelting another with stones.

Opposing the Railways’ decision to hold the exam in two stages, the protesting candidates claim that the second stage for final selection is tantamount to “cheating” those who appeared and cleared the first stage of the Railways exam for the computer-based test which was released on January 15.

A five-member committee has been formed by the ministry of railways to examine the grievances of the protesting students.
