Speaking at the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) on Thursday, veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan said “Even now…questions are being raised on civil liberties and freedom of expression.”
Mr. Bachchan made this statement after a lengthy discussion on British censorship, pre-independence films against oppressors, communalism, moral policing and societal harmony.
Mr. Bachchan who is known to be away from making statements on political issues has now raised many eyebrows after his statement at KIFF amid calls to boycott movies, the latest target of which being the upcoming SRK movie, Pathan.
