PM Modi takes oath as Lok Sabha member with cabinet ministers in 18th Lok Sabha

PM Modi along with the members of his Council of Ministers, that included Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, took the oath as members of the 18th Lok Sabha on Monday.

He was sworn as the Prime Minister with the Council of Ministers on June 9. Modi retained his Varanasi seat with the recent wrapping of the Lok Sabha elections. It should be noted that Modi has been winning his Varanasi seat since 2014. As the leader of the Assembly House, Modi was the first one to be sworn in.

Modi took the oath in Hindi in the midst of chanting slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” that were raised by members of the treasury benches.

Council of Ministers, who were present

Among the Council of Ministers, the retained posts were that of the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman were members of the Rajya Sabha. Besides the presence of Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari also took the oath as members of the 18th Lok Sabha.

It should be noted that while Rajnath Singh was re-elected from Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow seat, Shah had returned from Gandhinagar in Gujarat. Nitin Gadkari was elected from Nagpur in Maharashtra. All the three leaders took their respective oath in Hindi.
