New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has sharply criticized the Modi government for its handling of GST, accusing it of ignoring the needs of small business owners while favoring billionaires.
In a tweet, Gandhi highlighted the struggles of small businesses like the Annapoorna restaurant in Coimbatore, whose request for a simplified GST regime was allegedly met with “arrogance and disrespect.”
Gandhi further criticized the government, saying that while small businesses suffer under demonetization, an inaccessible banking system, and a flawed GST, billionaires receive favorable treatment. He emphasized that MSMEs have been asking for a single-rate GST for years, and if the government truly listened, it could solve the problems of countless businesses.
