Comedy King Kapil Sharma’s inspiring journey to stardom

With his unadulterated humor, stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma has won the hearts everyone and become a name in every household. He has overcome a lot of difficulties in life to achieve this phenomenal success.

Born on 2nd April 1981, in Punjab’s Amritsar, Kapil is regarded as Mumma’s boy. He hails from a lower-middle-class family, where his father worked as a head constable in the police department and mother was a homemaker.

Kapil’s life took an unfortunate turn in 1997 when fate decided to turn his world upside down. His father was diagnosed with final stage of cancer, while he was still in the last year of his college. In 2004, his father passed away which led to a tough financial time for the family of five. From here began a journey, which many still think was impossible.

Kapil completed his education from Hindu College, Amritsar. Before that, he had worked at a PCO booth in his 10th standard, to make up for his pocket money.

Kapil started acting for theatre during his college, but could not afford to pay the fees. However, several colleges appreciated his work and wanted to represent him in youth festivals and offered to sponsor his education. While his education was sponsored, he decided to take up Commercial Art and also completed a diploma in Computer Science later.

When Kapil first auditioned for ‘Laughter Challenge’, he was rejected, only to become the winner later in the year 2007. This was just a beginning and, therefore, Kapil participated in many shows. He won the ‘Comedy Circus’, a hit comedy show for six consecutive seasons. Not leaving a single opportunity, Kapil even hosted shows like ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ and ‘Chhote Miyaan’ and from there began his journey to stardom.

Kapil created his own production house ‘K9 Productions’ and then started his blockbuster show titled ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ in collaboration with Colors Channel. Soon, this show became a success and gained immense popularity and made him a household name. From Amitabh Bachchan to Sharukh Khan, every big superstar made an appearance on this show.

While gaining popularity in this show, Kapil’s journey faced another setback when the set of his show caught fire and everything was destroyed. However this did not let him deter and he knew how to make a strong comeback. He faced another bump when certain differences cropped up within the channel house and the show was shut down.

With a strong fan base, Kapil came back with more power on Sony Channel with another superhit show, ‘The Kapil Sharma Show.’ He also stepped into Bollywood with his hit film “Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon” and won several awards including ITA, Guild and Golden Petal Awards.

Kapil is ranked 27th in the Forbes India ‘Celebrity-100’ list. In terms of fame, Forbes India ranked him 7th and 11th in terms of income in their 2016 ‘Celebrity-100’ list.

After being off-air for almost seven months, The Kapil Sharma Show started premiering from August 21. Kapil Sharma had taken some time off to take care of his second child.

Fans have rejoiced the return of Comedy King, who is back once again to give people a belly laugh.
