Bay Area had threatened the owner that they will not let a Terrorist perform’: Hussain Haidry on performing at an Anti-CAA event in San Francisco

An Indian spoken word poet, writer and lyricist, Hussain Haidry said that when he was in San Fransisco to perform for an anti-CAA protest, the organisers had to change the venue, because many FB Groups of “Bay Area” had threatened the owner that they will not let a Terrorist perform.

Haidry, taking it to Twitter said, “In March 2020, I was in San Fransisco to perform for an anti-CAA protest. The organisers had to change the venue, because many FB Groups of “Bay Area” had threatened the owner that they will not let a Terrorist perform.”

“These were not Hindutva goons. most were NRIs in tech cos,” he said.

“When I say ‘threatened the owner’ this is what I mean,” Haidry further clarified adding:

  1. “Several messages on personal number.
  2. Many gave bad reviews and ratings on Yelp.
  3. Some called on WhatsApp.
  4. FB posts tagging the page, and comments.
The owner cancelled the event because he got scared.”

“What I’m trying to say is that these ‘networks’ being discovered today exist in different forms, and go even beyond this country, and have been in place since quite some time now. And that the participation of ‘regular people’ in their functioning cannot be considered as zero,” the writer tweeted.
