Deoghar (Jharkhand) (PTI): Three people were killed and three others injured after being buried under the debris of a two-storey building that collapsed in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district on Sunday, officials said. A rescue operation is underway as several others are feared trapped under the debris, which collapsed around 6 am in Deoghar town.
“Six individuals were pulled from the rubble and brought to Sadar Hospital. Of them, two were declared dead on arrival, and another woman later succumbed to her injuries. Three others, including a child, are currently receiving treatment,” reported Deoghar Civil Surgeon Ranjan Sinha to PTI.
A National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has been deployed for the rescue operation. Deoghar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ritvik Srivastava told PTI, “Several more individuals appear to be trapped under the debris, and the rescue operation is ongoing.”
NDRF Inspector Randhir Kumar, leading the operation, confirmed that efforts continue to retrieve those trapped.
